Evolis has announced it has been selected by the government in Uttar Pradesh to customize licenses as part of irts drive to start issuing smart card drivers’ licenses using the new-generation Primacy card printer. Over the coming months, almost 200 Evolis Primacy card printers will be deployed to issue more than 10 million cards – a project that will take five years to complete. Evolis says the Pebble and Dualys printers having already enabled the decentralized customization of millions of drivers’ licenses in 12 other Indian states over the past 10 years. This project will be conducted in collaboration with Rajpurohit Cardtec, Evolis’ distribution partner in India. Evolis has recently announced plans to take over Rajpurohit Cardtec as part of its vertical integration strategy, in order to take full advantage of the potential presented by the Indian market.
