Ingenico has concluded a contract through its Healthcare/eID Division with German health insurance company covering the delivery of 3,500 e-Health card terminals. The terminals are the 6041 from the Orga range, which enable data to be securely synchronised and updated on the eGK, the German eHealth patient card. According to Ingenico, terminals are installed in health insurance offices and can establish a secure connection to the data processing center. Terminals communicate through the SICCT protocol. In France, Ingenico states it is operating more than 25,000 secure update standalone terminals deployed widely in pharmacies, hospitals and other public areas. Now the company is providing an adapted solution to the German eHealth system, enabling the secure update of eGK cards which is a strong need to avoid multiple card replacements. Ingenico says doctors, dentists, psychotherapists and institutions in Germany already use the 6041 terminal to manage eGK cards at their offices. Apart from a USB 2.0/1.1 interface, it also offers a LAN switch with 10/100 Mbit/sec and provides two card slots for both patient eGK card and professional health card (HBA) and is, according to the company, prepared for the health telematics of the future. A first batch of terminals is currently being installed in 600 offices of the health insurance company which is then connected to the central data processing centre. The full rollout involves 3,500 terminals.
