CELEBRATING A MILESTONE

Dear ID Community members,

It is now fifteen years since we started shaping the market of data collection, cards, biometrics and RFID systems, driving our industry’s integration with a comprehensive vision on the strategic role of digital identification. As members of a community, we have been changing how the world identifies people and objects to increase automation and security while facilitating processes and delivery of services. Fifteen years is a remarkable milestone. Let us prepare to celebrate this important anniversary by defining a new horizon and advancing the frontiers of our collective initiative.

Today we request the ID Revolution to elevate its perspective as we continue our exchange and nurture new ambitions towards the very scope that originated our work when we started gathering and exchanging ideas on auto ID and identity management in modern times. ID technologies are now mature for ubiquitous and seamless embedding into industrial scenarios, just as much as into today’s infrastructures supporting secure communications and transactions. Society embraces the digital revolution and leverages eIDs in all contexts. While devoting our ongoing effort to the advances made with R&D and standardization, it is time to elevate our messages to best engage decision makers deploying the solutions integrating ID technologies by speaking their language. When looking at more powerful instruments or infrastructures to reach their objectives, those driving our economy in all industry sectors lean on automatic identification heavily, but they do not speak about it, nor stop to look into this aspect. Their language and their interests are in productivity and employment, education and healthcare, global resources, financial flows, democratization and legality in all aspects that contribute to the wealth of our economies. In one word: DEVELOPMENT.

From today onwards, we want our ID industry, our forces and our voices to participate and be heard in that context. Let us drive our debate so we can responsibly contribute to the prosperity of our society also in the long term. Harmonizing efforts, we can increase the positive implications of technology advancements and streamline today’s policies and systems in light of what we all aspire to foster as SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT in all sectors.

This is why we are now ready, after running in parallel for 18 months to test the waters, to complete the transition from our legacy titles Global Identification, ID WORLD and ID People to SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. Our new overarching brand reflects the ambition to elevate the voice of the ID Revolution from the language of those who know how to identify and integrate ID technologies, to the language of those who decide and regulate why, for which purpose and with which constraints ID technologies should be introduced and leveraged on when collecting and aggregating data.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT will be the community and the medium through which industry and decision makers will meet to consolidate development objectives, experiences and expectations. We are enthused to start this new project and count on the support of all of you as we disclose our new profile at key events throughout 2014.

The ID Revolution Continues
