Systems convergence across all aspects of access control opens new doors for debate at ID World International Congress 2015
Positive growth in the Electronic Access Control market is seeing an emerging trend in systems convergence. Recent analysis expects electronic security and alarm systems to be integrated with immediate onsite response solutions. This development, mainly attributed to heightened security concerns backed by government and regulatory mandates as well as demands for increased efficiency, will be a topic explored and debated during the ID World International Congress 2015.
The Electronic Access Control Systems (EACS) market includes authentication systems and credentials, intruder alarms and perimeter security, which monitor access as well as prevent malicious activities. The main convergence is where authentication systems are placed in-line and able to actively prevent intrusions that are detected using intruder alarms and perimeter security systems. As a consequence, the EACS market is witnessing a positive growth and increased adoption across the globe, estimated to reach $16.3 billion by 2017, according to market research. This embraces the global market for card-based EACS including proximity, smart and legacy technology based cards. Applications range across a number of key verticals from facilities management in business and industry to people safety in remote sites and critical infrastructures. Other key deployments include improved monitoring in command and control centers in urban hubs and the management of major events in large stadiums.
Industry pundits are also predicting key trends to watch for 2015. These include increased innovation fueled by the move to interoperable platforms based on open standards, as well as new credential form factors that see a transition to the use of a single card or mobile device for both physical and logical access control. In addition the use of NFC and Bluetooth technology in this sector is expected to increase, while identity management will become even more critical with a variety of credentials accessing multiple uses on a range of devices or form factors.
As convergence continues, biometric technology is expected to continue its adoption trend as an authentication model in access control. Biometric ID templates are also expected to migrate onto mobile devices, with credential management and authentication happening via cloud-based solutions, according to industry predictions.
All these issues and more will be debated at ID World International Congress in Frankfurt from 10 to 12 November 2015, while the co-located EuroID exhibition will be showcasing many of the technologies being adopted in the area of logical and physical access control.
About the event
For the third time, two leading events on the topic of identification will be co-located as the hub for ID technologies in Frankfurt am Main, Germany from, 10 to 12 November 2015. The ID World International Congress is the prime conference on the evolving world of biometrics, RFID, smart card technologies and data collection. It is the only international forum that looks at the advanced ID industry as a whole, rather than focusing on a specific technology or vertical sector. Euro ID exhibition is the unique technology platform for manufacturers, solution providers, distributors, system integrators, consultants and end-users of identification technologies.
